Permanently Hide Your Files and Folders

Step 1 : Click Start --> Run type regedit and Click Ok

Step 2 : Navigate to this path

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL

Step 3 : You will reach to this stage when your done with Step 2 :



Double Click the DWORD CheckedValue and change its value to 2




Step 4 : Now Open My Computer. Click on Tools --> Folder Options ---> Select View Tab.

Check the Radio Button "Do not show hidden files, folders or drives".

Click Ok




Thats it.

Now whenever you go to change that option back to "Show hidden files, folders or drives" you will get this screen.




Even if you select the "Show hidden files,foldes or drives" option still it wont get applied.

Thus your hidden files remain hidden permanently.

Only way to show your hidden file is again go to Start --> Run type regedit and Click Ok navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL and change the value of CheckedValue to 1

Make sure the base is "Hexadecimal" when you do this.
